Although Carvoeiro is the parish which has the largest coastline in Lagoa, it is also the one in which most of the beaches, because of their small size, cannot receive a large amount of visitors. On the other hand, nature has endowed it with a row of abrupt cliffs and mysterious rocks in which were dug beautiful caves of limpid waters. Seen from the sea, this part of the coast is one of the most amazing in all Algarve. Starting from the west, we can see Vale de Lapa beach, almost deprived of sand and with no bar or restaurant on it. Close to Vale de Lapa, Vale Currais and Vale Covo also present a difficult access and only have sand at low tide. The same happens in Paraíso, where there is also no bar, only a restaurant upstairs, by the car park. Although it is not easy to get to Paraíso, since you have to go down many stairs, this beach is visited by many people. Vale Centeanes beach, also enclosed by rocks and cliffs, recently underwent some repairs in order to protect its damaged cliffs. Praia do Carvalho is very quiet and people can get there by car from Benagil or walk there from Alfanzina. At last, Carvoeiro beach, right in the village, is a small bay of limpid waters. Its large extension of sand, where fishermen used to converse, has progressively become a cosmopolitan centre visited by thousands of tourists. Every year, before the season starts, the sand is cleaned and levelled. This beach, of very easy access, has everything to offer to its visitors: car park, access for disabled, the possibility to hire modern or traditional boats to visit the caves and the isolated beaches, a rescuer, sun blinds and even a net for volleyball matches. For all these reasons, but also because of the quality of its water, Carvoeiro is highly recommended.
